Current Energies
Here we talk about New Moons, Full Moons, eclipses, retrogrades and other shifts in planetary energies that influence each of us.
New Moon in Sagittarius 12*19*25
It's amazing to think we are at the final New Moon of the year, but here we are. On Friday evening, the Sun and Moon will meet at 28 degrees of Sagittarius. New Moons are times of initiation, of new beginnings of things that are under the purview of that sign. For Sagittarius, this includes beliefs, morality, and ethics. Sagittarius is the mutable fire sign. Like its sister fire signs, Aries and Leo, it is oriented towards the "big picture" and motivated by ideals. Like all mutable signs, there is a tendency for restlessness.
The symbol for Sagittarius is the arrow notched in the bow, drawn back and ready to be set free to explore new territory. Sagittarius is here to push boundaries, expand awareness, and grow beyond what is known. The preceding sign, Scorpio, is here to plumb the inner depths of emotions. After all this interior investigation, Sagittarius shifts the focus to the world at large. Sagittarius is not interested so much in having vast amounts of knowledge - that is more in line with its Gemini complement.
Sag wants to deeply understand the world it inhabits by exploring new places, people, and ideas. It is looking for ways to expand its understanding of how the world operates, and more importantly, how it should operate. Sagittarius wants to move beyond the accepted boundaries - what is known - and increase the cache of what is understood in order to inform and enhance the human experience.
Full Moon in Gemini 12*4*25
Thursday evening is the last Full Moon of the year. The Sun at 13 degrees of Sagittarius is opposite the Moon at 13 degrees of Gemini. The essence of this Full Moon is change. Gemini and Sagittarius are mutable signs. In addition to the Sun, Mars and Venus are both in Sagittarius, although not close enough to the Sun to be making a conjunction. And, Saturn and Neptune are making their final pass through mutable sign Pisces before moving forward into Aries in early 2026. With six planets in mutable signs, things are unsettled and shifting. Mutable energy prevails during times of change, as one condition, project, or situation is ending and another is getting ready to begin. Mutable energy is the realm of "no longer, but not yet." Let's unpack it.
Mercury Retrograde in Leo 7*18*25 - 8*11*25
Astrology, as has been noted many times, is about cycles. The zodiac is a framework for planetary cycles. Every planet has a separate cycle as it moves through this framework. Retrograde motion is one part of a planet's cycle.
When Mercury is retrograde, its energy is turned inwards. Its time for a pause to allow us to review how we express ourselves. Now Mercury is going retrograde in Leo, the fixed fire sign. Mercury retrogrades are times to pause and reevaluate how you manage the energy of Mercury expressed through the template of Leo. There will be opportunities now to review and redefine your personal power and how you wield it.
Full Moon in Capricorn 7*10*25
With all these energies shifting in the background, this Full Moon is here to anchor us back to ourselves. It will help us reorient to what matters and focus attention on what we can influence.
This Full Moon finds the Sun at 18 degrees of Cancer opposite Moon at 18 degrees of Capricorn. The Cancer - Capricorn axis deals with balancing foundation/home/roots/private circle (Cancer) with public reputation/career/destiny/ambitions and personal achievements. In Cancer, we develop the foundation upon which Capricorn can build and rise. If the foundation is weak it can't support the full expression of what is being built. If the roots are not well established, they can't nurture the plant.
So this axis asks us to reorient to our needs and goals. Come back home to yourself.
New Moon in Cancer 6*25*25
Get ready. This powerful Cancer New Moon on Wednesday morning is bringing challenges. I know, I know - perhaps it's better said that it is bringing in a different level of challenges. These energies are primarily in cardinal signs. Therefore, the focus is shifting to each of us personally - what we are feeling and being drawn towards, as well as what we are being called to move away from.
The Sun and Moon will be at 4 degrees of Cancer, conjunct Jupiter at 3 degrees of Cancer. Conjunctions are a blending of the energies of the planets involved. Jupiter energy amplifies things, so the Cancer energy will be especially strong under this New Moon.
Mars Square Uranus 6*14*25 - 6*17*25
Mars is in the final degrees of Leo, the fixed fire sign. Uranus is in the final degrees of Taurus, the fixed earth sign. Over the weekend they will form an exact 90 degree angle known as a square. Squares in astrology are "hard" aspects. They are dynamic, meaning they make things very uncomfortable. So uncomfortable, we are forced to change something about our approach in order to manage the energies of the planets involved. While this aspect is short-lived, when looked at in the context of the other changes we have been experiencing recently, it can express in powerful ways.
Full Moon in Sagittarius 6*11*25
Wednesday, in the wee, wee hours of the morning, the Moon at 20 degrees of Sagittarius was opposite the Sun at 20 degrees of Gemini, forming a Full Moon. The Gemini- Sagittarius axis deals with ideas, logic, and data (Gemini) and ideals, beliefs, and philosophy (Sagittarius). Sagittarius takes the information Gemini provides and expands it. Both are mutable signs which makes them restless and curious. Sun in airy Gemini likes learning, conversation, and socialization. Moon in fiery Sagittarius is looking for inspiration, fun, and adventure.
This Full Moon will shine a light on your beliefs…You are being pushed to bring your guiding principles into your awareness…Included here are your beliefs about yourself.
New Moon in Gemini 5*26*25
This year has had a lot of transitional astrology. The outer planets are all in the process of shifting into new signs. Pluto started it off late last year with its entrance into Aquarius; Neptune moved into Aries in late March and Saturn just joined Neptune there. In June, Jupiter will move into Cancer and in July, Uranus will head into Gemini. The energies of change are intense.
This New Moon in Gemini feels like a much needed breather from all the intensity. Gemini is the mutable air sign. Like all air signs, it operates in the world of ideas. For Gemini, information is currency. It is the way to make connections with others, and Gemini energy values connection and socialization.
Saturn into Aries 2025 * 2028
Very late Saturday night Saturn completes a 29 year cycle around the zodiac and starts a new one as it enters Aries for the first time since 1996. Saturn is the planet of boundaries and limits. Saturn brings a reality check to whatever it is involved with. It is a planet of responsibility, discipline, and structure. Saturn does not deal in fantasy or wishes. Saturn will refine a vision until it becomes a goal then come up with a doable plan to achieve it.
Saturn moving into Aries will initially feel like a restriction on all Aries energy wants to do.
Full Moon in Scorpio 5*12*25
Monday afternoon just before 1pm (ET) the Moon will be full in Scorpio as the Sun at 22 degrees of Taurus opposes the Moon at 22 degrees of Scorpio. Full Moons are often turning points. Something started earlier reaches fruition. Something that has been tickling your awareness suddenly reveals itself completely. Truths come to light. On one level, there is no denying what you are being shown. You can, however, pretend not to see or choose not to act on the new information. That is the essence of your free will. It's a longstanding tenet of astrology that "the stars impel but they do not compel."
The Taurus - Scorpio axis deals with security.
