Full Moon in Gemini 12*4*25

Thursday evening is the last Full Moon of the year. The Sun at 13 degrees of Sagittarius is opposite the Moon at 13 degrees of Gemini. The essence of this Full Moon is change.  Gemini and Sagittarius are mutable signs. In addition to the Sun, Mars and Venus are both in Sagittarius, although not close enough to the Sun to be making a conjunction. And, Saturn and Neptune are making their final pass through mutable sign Pisces before moving forward into Aries in early 2026. With six planets in mutable signs, things are unsettled and shifting. Mutable energy prevails during times of change, as one condition,  project, or situation is ending and another is getting ready to begin. Mutable energy is the realm of "no longer, but not yet." Let's unpack it.

  1. Full Moons bring things to light. The Sagittarius - Gemini axis deals with beliefs and opinions and the ways we share them with others. Sagittarius is the mutable fire sign, concerned with those big concepts that form the basis of our beliefs. Sag is the explorer. It wants to move beyond the known and accepted into deeper understandings. It is not content with the status quo. Sagittarius is here to explore foreign territory, both physically as with travel, and mentally, as with philosophical musings.

Gemini is comfortable with the local environment. It is the mutable air sign, spending time socializing and connecting with lots of different sorts. Gemini is curious. Its airy nature is not easily contained, as it likes to learn about lots of things. Information is currency. It is a way to connect with others. Gemini is not concerned with taking understanding to the next level. Its focus is broad and its interest is general information about a lot of different topics.

With Moon in Gemini, emotions can be articulated more easily. We can give voice to feelings that might remain unspoken under different energies. Moon in Gemini is not for deep exploration of how we are feeling. That happened under the previous lunations in Scorpio and during Mercury's recent retrograde through Scorpio which ended last week. What emotions came up for you last month? Sadness? Anger? Anxiety? Those are of course the biggies that we all shy away from expressing. Were you able to sit with them; acknowledge and accept them? Did you happen to notice what was beneath them? Was there shame beneath the anxiety? Grief beneath the anger?  Did you try to talk yourself out of what you were feeling? Here is your chance to choose differently.

Last month's watery focus gave buried emotions the opportunity to rise to the surface. This lunation continues with strong water energy, but the Moon in Gemini gives these feelings an outlet, a voice. Are you willing to use it? There is quite a lot of power in hearing yourself express feelings you are used to stuffing or denying. The beauty is you don't have to tell them to anyone other than yourself if you don't want to. But under this Full Moon, it is important that they be set free. The key is to communicate them, whether you journal, speak, draw, dance, or use another way to express yourself. How you do it doesn't matter as much as that you do it.

It's not just about challenging emotions now. What brings you joy? What are you excited about? What thoughts and relationships cause you to feel expansive and open? Under the fire and air energies of Sagittarius and Gemini, it's time to explore passions, be playful, and focus on creating more fun in your life. Moving forward, what do you want? Yes, this time is about transition and freeing yourself from old patterns and stuck energies, but it is also time to clarify the qualities that you want to generate more of in your life. You get to choose that as well under these mutable energies.

  1. The Sun and Moon are in an exact square to the Moon's nodes. The nodes are points in the Moon's orbit where it intersects with the path of the Sun. The nodes are always directly opposite each other.  The south node represents qualities that we default to.  We operate on instinct in the area of the south node. The north node shows the qualities to be developed to move to the next level in our evolution or growth. Right now, the south node is in Virgo and the north node is in Pisces.  The Sun, Moon, and the nodes are forming a cross. We are at a choice point under this lunation, both individually and collectively. Will we use what is being revealed about our beliefs (Sagittarius) and our ideas and the way we express them (Gemini) to continue to feed our quest for perfection, to overthink, criticize, judge ourselves and others (all south node in Virgo qualities)? Will we shift our perspective to see the bigger picture, to choose compassion, and recognize the commonalities we share and how we are connected (north node in Pisces qualities)? Can we move beyond limits of our beliefs (Sagittarius) and build community and comradery (Gemini)?

  2. While December does not have the same watery emphasis that November's lunations did, there is still strong water (aka emotion-based) energy prevailing. We still have the same Grand Water Trine that came with the New Moon in Scorpio on November 20 - Mercury (now direct) at 22 degrees of Scorpio, Saturn and Neptune at 25 and 29 degrees of Pisces, and Jupiter at 24 degrees of Cancer.  Further, Uranus in the last degrees of Taurus is still activating this Grand Water Trine.

From the 11.20.25 New Moon post: "The trine is helping (emotions) flow and allowing us to become aware of them in a gentle way. The key with this is to realize what is happening; to be tuned into your feelings and to be willing to sit with them and fully experience them, even the uncomfortable ones. Grand Water Trines are about flow. Are you able to stop resisting the discomfort of "feeling" and instead, trust the insights you receive when you stop trying to "figure it out" or "make it make sense"? Those are air sign strategies. They won't work in this watery environment. Water energy simply requires we be present, receptive, and trust in our innate buoyancy. It's important to keep the focus internal, to refamiliarize ourselves with our inner landscape, rather than searching for meaning or validation externally. "

Uranus is opposing Mercury in Scorpio, encouraging us to adopt a different perspective and think outside the box. It is working with both Jupiter in Cancer and Saturn and Neptune in Pisces to help us use the insights of the Full Moon to realistically create effective self care practices that make it easier to take steps to realize our dreams for ourselves. The Uranus effect here is also encouraging us to do something different. Uranus does not stick to the script. In fact, it typically doesn't stick to any script. It precipitates totally new and innovative responses. This lunation is challenging us to develop trust in different sources of information. It's asking us to honor our own guidance, our intuitive knowing, our "inner ding", as Louse Hay called it.

This trine will be ending next week when Mercury moves into Sagittarius.

Numerologically, 2025 is a "9" year, the end of a cycle. As this year of completion winds down, any unfinished business will make itself quite apparent. The more you lean into your self care, keeping yourself as a priority and doing the things that you know enhance your wellbeing consistently, the easier it will be to navigate the shifts that are in play. It can be hard to feel grounded in these energies. Tried and true practices might be ineffective. It's time for new tools and new perspectives. There are things that need to come to their natural end. They no longer resonate with who you are evolving to be. Let them end. Invest in your wellbeing, trust yourself and prepare to be delighted rather than disappointed.

"I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end.  Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious ambiguity."    ~ Gilda Radner
