Full Moon in Scorpio 5*12*25
Monday afternoon just before 1pm (ET) the Moon will be full in Scorpio as the Sun at 22 degrees of Taurus opposes the Moon at 22 degrees of Scorpio. Full Moons are often turning points. Something started earlier reaches fruition. Something that has been tickling your awareness suddenly reveals itself completely. Truths come to light. On one level, there is no denying what you are being shown. You can, however, pretend not to see or choose not to act on the new information. That is the essence of your free will. It's a longstanding tenet of astrology that "the stars impel but they do not compel."
Security and Power: The Taurus - Scorpio Axis
The Taurus - Scorpio axis deals with security. Taurus, the fixed earth sign, is focused on resources and possessions. These are considered to be an extension of the self. Taurus is the most sensual sign, meaning it experiences life through the senses. For Taurus energy, something must be tangible in order to be appreciated. Security is anchored to the material. Taurus energy must have its physical needs to be met in order to feel at ease and safe. There must be good food, comfortable clothes and cozy places available. Without these things, Taurus is edgy, irritable, and unable to relax. What do you require to feel safe and secure? Do the things you acquire add benefit to your life or just cost a lot of time and energy to maintain? Are you attempting to substitute possessions for values and self-worth? Upon what does your security rest? It is a good time to take inventory and determine whether your possessions are contributing to the quality of your life.
Scorpio, the other end of the axis, is the fixed water sign. Water signs experience life through the emotions. Taurus' earthiness is focused on the body. Scorpio's nature is internal, dealing with feelings. For Taurus, security comes from interacting with things in the environment. For Scorpio, security is about honoring emotions and creating intimacy with important others.
Moon in Scorpio brings light to our feelings and how we get our emotional needs met. If we are not comfortable within ourselves, we can use control dramas to manipulate others. This is the lower expression, when the fear of being vulnerable and being fully seen by another is overwhelming. We try to control external conditions to feel more secure. Sooner or later, this strategy always backfires. Emotions that are stuffed away can't be honored. Moreover, emotions are energy, and energy must eventually be expressed. Dammed up water has to flow somewhere. Under this Full Moon, consider your reaction to the idea of your emotional needs. Do you hide behind sarcasm or deflection? Do you equate vulnerability with weakness? Can you trust others? Are you willing to be fully seen? Do you trust yourself to handle life as it comes? Scorpio is the sign of transformation and self-empowerment. Upon what does your sense of empowerment rest? Is it tied to external conditions being a certain way or to your internal acceptance of yourself and your capabilities to navigate life?
The Uranus Effect: Sudden shifts and changes
Uranus at 27 degrees of Taurus is conjunct the Sun here. Uranus is the planet of disruption and liberation. It has been traveling through Taurus since 2018. It has caused us to reevaluate how we use and think about our values, finances, and possessions. Uranus has been showing us where we have invested in limiting beliefs about our needs for security and how we fulfill them, and it has been encouraging us to free ourselves from these restrictions. Uranus will be leaving Taurus in July and moving into Gemini. It will return to Taurus for a last pass in October, where it will stay until next May. It will then move into Gemini until 2033. When outer planets get ready to change signs, things ramp up. Revelations about what you really need to feel secure (Taurus) and empowered (Scorpio) are going to be demanding your attention.
Consider your habits. Taurus and Scorpio prioritize stability and consistency. Habits are actions you have repeated to the point that they have become automatic. This frees up our focus for creative endeavors. But, under this Full Moon, it is worth shining a light on our routines. Are they contributing to a version of ourselves we are evolving into or are they are anchoring us to a version of ourselves that we have outgrown?
Think back to November of last year. What was started then will be coming to a pivot point now. Also consider what came up for you at the New Moon in Taurus on April 27. Seeds planted then will be sprouting now. If you know your chart, look to see in what houses late Taurus and Scorpio fall in. These are the areas of life that will be highlighted for you.
Taurus and Scorpio are fixed signs. Change is hard for them. That said, clinging to something you have outgrown is not just hard, it's painful. Everything in your life you now consider "normal" came about because something changed. The discomfort of change eventually fades. Not so the discomfort of limiting your growth.
This year has been and will continue to be about completion and endings in preparation for the next cycle. The next 12 months will bring lots of transitions as all the outer planets move and settle into new signs. The changes are inescapable. How will you choose to navigate them? Right now, the Full Moon is bringing the opportunity to become aware of how you can best develop your resources to create an unshakable sense of security and trust in yourself, regardless of what is going on "out there". Take a moment and imagine the freedom this offers. Why would you deny yourself this?
"Growth can be painful, change can be painful, but nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don't belong. Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it only empties today of its strengths." ~ Charles H. Spurgeon
