Full Moon in Capricorn 7*10*25

The Bigger Picture

Thursday afternoon's Full Moon in Capricorn feels like a well deserved pause in all the change we have been experiencing in the past few months. To recap, all the outer planets have changed signs. The outer planets (Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus) exert most of their influence on the collective, or in the world conditions.

  • Pluto is solidly in Aquarius where it will stay until 2042.

  • Neptune is in Aries. It will retrograde back to the last degree of Pisces later this year and will reenter Aries early in 2026.

  • Uranus moved into Gemini on Monday, July 7. It will retrograde back into Taurus in November, and will reenter Gemini in late April, 2026, where it will stay until 2033.

The influence of the outer planets is supported by Saturn and Jupiter. Saturn and Jupiter are social planets, acting as bridges between the outer collective and each of us individually.

  • Saturn moved into Aries on May 25. It will retrograde back into Pisces on September 1, and will ingress back into Aries in February 2026 until 2028.

  • Jupiter shifted into Cancer on June 10 where it will spend the next 12 months.

It's important to note that, as far as we can reckon, never have all the planets shifted into new signs in such a short amount of time. There is no reference or template for how this unfolds. That means anything is possible. We are birthing an entirely new world. It's also important to remember that birth is a painful, messy process. How we experience all of this individually depends on many factors, including where these planets are in your birth chart and how their movements in the present are activating the energies of your potentials.

This Full Moon is a sacred pause

With all these energies shifting in the background, this Full Moon is here to anchor us back to ourselves. It will help us reorient to what matters and focus attention on what we can influence.

This Full Moon finds the Sun at 18 degrees of Cancer opposite Moon at 18 degrees of Capricorn. The Cancer - Capricorn axis deals with balancing foundation/home/roots/private circle (Cancer) with public reputation/career/destiny/ambitions and personal achievements. In Cancer, we develop the foundation upon which Capricorn can build and rise. If the foundation is weak it can't support the full expression of what is being built. If the roots are not well established, they can't nurture the plant.

So this axis asks us to reorient to our needs and goals. Come back home to yourself. How do you take care of yourself? The Cancer New Moon on June 25 drew attention to themes of home, safety, security and self-care. What has been showing up for you over the last two weeks? What have you started in order to create or better define "home" for yourself?

Now, the focus expands. How are you sharing your time and talents with the world?  What legacy are you creating for yourself? Does your foundation support it? If not what needs to be strengthened?

Moon in Capricorn: the wise mother

Moon in Capricorn is not  a sweet mothering expression. That's Moon in Cancer. Moon in Capricorn is a different type of mothering - the wise, no nonsense, "don't try to play me" Moon energy.  Moon in Capricorn's agenda is to consistently be the very best version of self. It expects you to behave maturely, responsibly, and with dignity. The standard it holds for itself extends to everyone in your sphere. Moon in Capricorn does not tolerate cutting corners or sloppiness. In its lower expression, Moon in Capricorn can be a hardnosed critic with impossibly high expectations. Alternatively, it can be an effective coach, clarifying your goals and creating an effective strategy to  achieve them.

Where might you be allowing someone else to establish your standards or goals? How do you want to be seen in the outside world? What professional reputation are you investing in? How are you using your Moon energy - your intuition, emotions, and inner awareness - to inform your public persona or your ambitions?

Cancer energy: create a soft place to land

Cancer energy needs a sanctuary, a place to retreat to after spending time in the world so it can recenter. Cancer is the cardinal water sign, and so experiences life through emotions. Its cardinal mode of operating means it takes action in response to emotions. Cancer energy feels things deeply, but tends to think all the feels are theirs. As much as it appreciates time in the outside world, it needs time in the quiet to process the experiences it has with others "out there."

According to Dr. Joe Dispenza, thoughts are the language of the mind and feelings are the language of the body. Emotions are the body's  messengers. Under this Full Moon, consider how you interact with these messengers. Are you willing to receive the message? Are you able to discern what you are feeling? Can you recognize and name your emotions? Do you feel your feelings or think about them? The latter keeps you in your mind and out of your body. It blunts the sensations that are attempting to give you the message. Receiving the message requires you to engage with the feelings. Sometimes this requires you to be uncomfortable for a while. Are you able to engage with all your feelings, even the messy ones, and receive their messages? Do you deny or suppress your feelings rather than staying with the discomfort they can create? Many of us were discouraged from honoring our emotions. Emotions, like everything else, are energy and energy will always express in some way. Having a safe space, a home base where you can be completely at ease is important. It nourishes the soul. Cancer is dedicated to creating a nurturing, safe and secure space where its roots can sink deep and be nourished. How is your "home"? Do you have a place where you are "at ease"? Is your environment peaceful?

In fulfilling the Cancer directive of creating home base where you are safe and cared for, we establish the foundation from which our Capricorn ambitions can be realized. Our energy is then freed up to be directed towards our goals, rather than damage control because of unmet needs and unprocessed emotions.  How do you balance the demands of your work/ambitions with the your need to be cared for? Do you use work as a distraction from home? Are you too busy to attend to your needs? Does your work contribute to your wellbeing or compromise it? What needs to change in either sphere (or both) to bring them into balance?

Jupiter in Cancer is amplifying the theme of home and safety. Prioritizing self-care consistently will contribute mightily to  your ability to be in the world without allowing external conditions to deplete you.

Heads up - Mercury retrograde is upon us

Finally, Mercury will be going retrograde next week (July 18 - August 11). It's time to back up your data, confirm appointments, build in extra time and address any mechanical or technology issues.

"Your anger? It's telling you where you feel powerless. Your anxiety? It's telling you that something in your life is off balance. Your fear? It's telling you what you care about. Your apathy? It's telling you where you are overextended and burnt out. Your feelings aren't random, they are messengers. And if you want to be able to get anywhere you need to be able to let them speak to you and tell you what you really need."  ~ Brianna Wiest
