I have been practicing and studying astrology for pretty much my whole life. When I was about 7, someone gave me a small book about sun signs and from that moment, I was hooked. That little book started a love affair that has lasted over 50 years and shows no sign of ending.

MY STORY

For me, astrology is an energy system. Planets are specific types of energy. The signs they are in set the parameters for how that energy is expressed. The house they are in shows what area of life those energies are focused towards. The relationships between the different planets shows how well they play together. Some relationships between planets, known as aspects, are challenging while others flow more easily. At the end of the day, each of us is responsible for how we express our energy.

The foundation of understanding your personal energy signature and potentials is the natal chart, also known as the birth chart. This is a picture of the sky at the moment of birth. The natal chart shows the potentials an individual comes in with. How those potentials are developed and expressed to the outside world is up to each person. One way or another, though, the energies get expressed. I like to think of the birth chart as an artist's palette. The birth chart shows the colors you come in with. What you paint is up to you. Astrology is a tool that aids self-awareness (why I do those things I do) and connection (why they do those things they do.) Understanding the astrology of a situation or relationship decreases the tendency to react blindly and helps to find common ground.
