Full Moon in Leo (and a bonus peek at February’s Big Energies) 2*1*26
February starts off with a powerful Full Moon in Leo that also starts eclipse season. Technically, eclipse season starts on the lunation prior to the first eclipse and ends on the lunation after the second eclipse. This is the lunation that precedes the eclipse. Eclipses always come in pairs. This year, we will have a Solar Eclipse (New Moon) in Aquarius on February 17 and a Lunar Eclipse (Full Moon) on March 3 in Virgo.
But back to the Full Moon in Leo, which has the Sun at 13 degrees of Aquarius opposite the Moon at 13 degrees of Leo. The Sun is joined by Pluto at 3 degrees, Mars at 7 degrees, Venus at 19 degrees and Mercury at 21 degrees. That is a lot of Aquarian energy converging on the Moon. Interestingly, the skies have been preparing us for this Full Moon since a few days after the New Moon in Capricorn on January 18. That is when each of the personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars) took turns conjuncting Pluto at 3 degrees of Aquarius. Let's break this important prelude down.
Pluto is the planet of power/empowerment/transformation/control. Its superpower is revealing patterns that we developed to help ourselves feel safe or in control, but that are actually unsustainable and disempowering. As it moves through Aquarius, it will bring up themes of liberation, agency, fairness, and the power of groups to work towards a common goal. Capricorn, the sign before Aquarius, is about rules, authority, and hierarchy. Aquarius does not accept any of this and questions all of it. Anything found lacking will be torn down to make way for something that better reflects the Aquarius vision of an egalitarian society that honors and advances humanity as a whole. Air sign Aquarius is loyal to the vision.
The Sun is our purpose; what we are here to do in our unique way. The Moon is our emotional needs and how we care for ourselves and others. Mercury is how we communicate and receive data; Venus is what we are attracted to and what we value. It's how we develop our resources and form relationships with important others. Mars is how we express our passions and our anger, and how we physically interact with the world and its inhabitants. Each of these planets made contact with Pluto through the previous 2 weeks. Each contact only lasted a day or two, but that was enough for Pluto to focus on the energetic expression of that planet's themes and show what was not working.
It's important to note that the faster moving personal planets regularly connect with the slower moving outer planets (Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto). The Sun, Mercury and Venus connect with every outer planet annually, the Moon connects with each one monthly, and Mars connects every two years. The interesting anomaly here is that these connections are happening in a short period of time rather than being spread out through the year. Pluto offered each of us the chance to truly see our patterns in rapid sequence. What came up for you in the time between January 19 and January 27? Did you find yourself acting out or being triggered more easily? Did you find yourself reacting to situations? Were you able to sit with discomfort? The key question here was did you exercise your true power through choosing a response or did you act out of a desire to control a situation?
Now, on the Full Moon in Leo, the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars remain in Aquarius along with Pluto. Only Mars is close enough to be considered conjunct to Pluto. Do your actions reflect your authentic self? Do you sabotage yourself with anger, impulsivity, or rashness? Are you trying to push energy and make something happen?
The Leo - Aquarius axis deals with personal power and leadership (Leo) applied to the betterment of humanity (Aquarius). The Moon at 13 degrees of Leo is receiving all the Aquarius energy and reflecting it back to each of us. Aquarius, the fixed air sign, is focused on the collective, humanity as an organism. Aquarius is loyal to the vision for the future in which each of us is valued for our unique individual contribution to the world. For Aquarius, we are each our own authority, connected by a shared vision of creating a future that serves everyone. On the opposite end of the axis is Leo, the fixed fire sign. Leo, ruled by the Sun, is here to shine. Leo energy is charismatic, warm, inviting and fun to be around.
This Full Moon directs the heavy Aquarius energy to the Moon in Leo, which reflects it through the lens of personal power. The Leo Moon asks each of us to determine what is our role in the creation of the future we want? What talents do you have to share? Can you recognize and celebrate your particular way of being? Are you comfortable in your skin or do you need validation to confirm your worth? Can you receive appreciation as well as genuinely appreciate the talents of others without judgement or needing to compete or prove something? Are you willing to step up, step into the light and be fully seen? Because here's the thing, if you don't, there is no one to take your place. None of us has an understudy. If you don’t show up, the creation is incomplete. It will still happen, but it will be missing your unique signature. This Full Moon asks you to acknowledge what is yours to do, then do it in a way that only you can.
February 2026 is a hotbed of astrological activity. We will have a Solar Eclipse in Aquarius on February 17 which also ushers in the Eastern New Year of the Fire Horse. On February 20, Saturn and Neptune will meet at 0 degrees of Aries, the first degree of the first sign of the zodiac. This is an initiation point; a conception point. This is the birth of something entirely new. Saturn and Neptune meet up every 36 years or so, but never in recorded history have they done so on this potent point.
Neptune dissolves things - boundaries, logic, strategy. It is not meant to be practical or grounded. Neptune is the planet of connection to something larger, to the collective soul. It operates beyond the veil in the realm of spirituality, artistry, and creativity. It sees connections between and among all expressions of life. That is why Neptune is known for compassion. It's hard to be dispassionate when you realize we are all part of a living tapestry. Put another way, Neptune operates with awareness of the field of energy that moves through all life.
Saturn on the other hand, is the reality check planet. It is grounded and practical. Saturn creates boundaries, limits, and borders. Saturn is very aware that this is where I begin and you end. It has a very different perspective than Neptune; not opposite but complementary; more oriented to the individuation aspect of the soul instead of the overarching connectedness that Neptune focuses on. Under this transit, the key theme is how to show up as an expression of your most aligned self. Neptune knows we are all expressions of divinity. Saturn offers the container for how we each choose to uniquely express that divinity as humans living in the world. Neptune also challenges us to adopt a different perspective - one that sees the bigger picture, the forest for the trees as it were. To recognize the interconnectedness of all of us and give grace to self and others; to realize that disagreement is not indictment of worthiness. Saturn and Neptune also bring accountability (Saturn) to how we demonstrate our beliefs (Neptune) by the actions we take. As they both move out of Pisces and into Aries, the time of dreams and planning is giving way to taking action. Aries wants to get started; as the cardinal fire sign it is motivated by passion, ideals, and inspiration (fire). It is done planning. Couple that with the energy of the incoming fire horse and it is a strong, transformative forward momentum that takes over during the last half of February.
The last few weeks have challenged each of us to release any lingering patterns that we have outgrown and start to consistently embody our values. February's energies will bring a reset for the planet. We might not see the effects immediately, but something new is being created. The full implication of it remains to be seen, but what is clear is we each have something to offer to affect the outcome. Your contribution is to show up as the expression of the qualities you guide your life by; to walk your talk. There is no need to shout. Let your energy speak for you. Settle; know that there is nothing random happening, and yet we are all responsible for how we show up. The victim script is a lower expression of Pisces energy, and we are leaving it behind. Aries asks what are you willing to fight for? This doesn't mean in a combative way, but in a clear, anchored, and coherent way. As you practice embodying your values, showing up as your ideal self more and more, you stop relying on others to give you permission. You act in ways that support the life you want to create. You also shift the energy you bring to the world as you move through it. That is empowerment, and it can't be taken away because it is internally generated and sustained by your choices.
"What we call our destiny is truly our character, and that character can be altered. The knowledge that we are responsible for our actions and attitudes does not need to be discouraging, because it also means that we are free to change this destiny. One is not in bondage to the past, which has shaped our feelings...All this can be altered if we have the courage to examine how it formed us. We can alter the chemistry provided we have the courage to dissect the elements." ~ Anais Nin
