New Moon in Aquarius 1*29*25

The first New Moon of 2025 happens on Wednesday morning. The Sun and Moon meet up at 9 degrees of Aquarius. They are amplifying the fixed air sign energy that has been building since November, when Pluto entered Aquarius to start a 20 year transit. The last time Pluto was in Aquarius was the late 1700s, a time of drastic shifts in life as it was known then, including the American, French, and Industrial Revolutions. 

The Aquarius Vision

Air signs experience the world through ideas and concepts. The air sign energy brings objectivity. Aquarius, as the fixed air sign, has a vision for society that is grounded in freedom and honors individual uniqueness. Aquarius challenges the status quo and ignores rules that are designed to maintain it. All the structures so carefully developed by the preceding sign, Capricorn, are shaken up in Aquarius season. Aquarius does not honor external authority figures just because they have a position in the hierarchy. 

For Aquarius, each person is the authority of their individual life. Only when people are free and able to access  tools they require can they express their genius and contribute to the community. This is the foundation of the Aquarian perspective. Unfairness is unacceptable. Systems that promote a top down approach undermine individual liberty. Aquarius is dedicated to the concept that each person has a particular zone of genius and deserves the support required to operate there. In that paradigm, society is the ultimate beneficiary. The vision Aquarius is committed to is a collaborative community of fulfilled individuals using all their talents in service to the whole of humanity rather than competing for status or resources. 

Where are you going? 

The Sun and Moon are in a wide conjunction to Mercury at 2 degrees of Aquarius and Pluto at 1 degree. This blending of conscious awareness (Sun), emotional needs and unconscious motivators (Moon), communication (Mercury) and expressions of power and empowerment (Pluto) are all coming through the Aquarian lens of change, freedom, and authenticity. Aquarius is a future oriented sign. It has no desire to revisit the past. If you are ruminating on your history, fixated on what was, this New Moon is a time to turn the page. What is your vision for yourself? How do you want the next part of your life to proceed? What are your hopes? If you could create the ideal situation for your future what would it look like? Ignore all the reasons you'll default to as to why you can't have or do what you want. This is an ideal situation. What do you want for yourself? Stay with it as long as you can without overwhelming yourself. This is not an exercise in drowning yourself in minutia. It is meant to focus your intention on a desired state of being. From that clarity, the details take care of themselves. 

Who Is Coming With You? 

Look at your community. Aquarius energy understands the power of a group. Who are your ride or die's? Are you committed to a common cause, a mutual goal? Do your friends uplift and support, or deplete? Have you outgrown some relationships? Are you able to be authentic with those in your sphere, or do you feel the need to edit yourself? 

Jupiter, planet of growth and expansion, is making an easy aspect to the Aquarius planets. Jupiter at 11 degrees of Gemini is encouraging each of us to expand our social connections. Jupiter in Gemini wants to share information and interact with a variety of people. It prioritizes conversation and conviviality with acquaintances, not deep exchanges where you bare your soul. Can you approach others with curiosity? Are you willing to explore ideas with people you would not normally connect with? Can you find common ground in unfamiliar places?  This is a time to invest in community and connection. Let yourself grow beyond the limits of your past and start to tell a new story.
