New Moon in Aquarius ⋆ 2.9.24

Today's Aquarian New Moon happened as the Sun and Moon met at 20 degrees of Aquarius. Mercury (communication/information processing/logic) and Pluto(transformation/power) are also in Aquarius and Mars(yang energy/personal drive) and Venus (how we relate to important others/values) will be joining them next week, so Aquarius energy is amplified.

Aquarius is the fixed air sign. Air signs are focused on the mental realm. They require things to be rational, logical, reasonable. They tend towards objective detachment. As the fixed air sign, Aquarius is a futurist. The sign is innovative. Aquarius is concerned with freedom and is guided by a vision for a better world for the collective. For Aquarius, humanity is the beneficiary of progress, not any individual. As much as the sign is focused on individuality and breaking through restrictions, the focus is on an improved condition that supports every being to reach their fullest potential.

Capricorn is about rules and structures that bring order to life. Under Capricorn, boundaries are recognized important as they keep things orderly. When we shift to Aquarius, the viewpoint changes. Aquarius looks at all the rules and decides which it will abide by. It will ignore, rebel, or rewrite any that are deemed too restrictive. Aquarian energy resulted in the Magna Carta and the Declaration of Independence. Aquarius energy is not gentle. It will make waves and stir the pot. If the Capricorn structures attempt to repress it, Aquarius will bring a full out revolution. Fixed signs are not easily dissuaded.

Aquarius is dialed into groups and collectives but these energies affect each of us on an individual level. After all, groups and collectives are made up of individuals.

Under this New Moon, consider whose rules you are playing by? What effect are they having on your experience of this life? Are they keeping you stuck or offering a path forward to your grandest expression? You likely already know where change is needed. You've probably known for a few weeks - since Pluto entered Aquarius. This is the time to initiate it.

The Sun and Moon are squaring Uranus in Taurus. Uranus rules Aquarius, so there is extra oomph to this square. Squares show where energies are competing and therefore are at cross purpose. The Sun/Moon in Aquarius create the conditions for new beginnings that are supportive of your individual contribution to the collective. Uranus in fixed earth sign Taurus since 2018 has been shaking up our foundations. It has been precipitating shifts in our attitudes about our physical surroundings, resources, and what we think we need to feel secure. Uranus is an electrical planet. It can come across like a lightening bolt. In earthy Taurus, the  electricity (change) can be grounded so it catalyzes new things in practical ways. The energy is looking for an outlet.

Under this New Moon, expect some tension between the desire to free yourself to pursue your vision for a more authentic life and the resistance to doing so because it is going to be destabilizing. Hopefully you have been adapting to Uranus moving through Taurus by gradually allowing yourself to release old attitudes and connections to material things that are no longer aligned to your life's vision. If so, this is the time to assess what still needs to be done in order to develop and express your authentic self more fully.

If you have been playing on the edges of resistance, doing a one-step-forward-two-steps-back tango, you will feel the frustration of denying yourself the change you know you both want and need. It is meant to clarify the importance of investing in your creative capacity, to trust your ability to have a life you love. You don't have to do it all right now, but you will be served by first recognizing your patterns of resistance. Busyness is a common one. Are you suddenly swamped with work and family demands? No possible time right now? Can't even think about it until things ease up?

This is the time to plant the seed. Notice how you speak about what you want and your vision for your life. If you haven't allowed yourself to speak it, start. Use words that are uplifting to your ears. Spend a little time in the mental realms (air sign realm) imagining what your life will be like as you release those things that are keeping you stuck, as you shift into the bigger vision you have for yourself. Consider strategies to move towards it. Practice conversations you need to have until you feel more comfortable with the idea of having them. New Moons are about planting seeds, initiating new things, not completing the whole process. Explore pathways to your desired outcomes. Commit to the planning stage of the process of change. It's time. You're ready.
