Full Moon in Leo ⋆ 1.25.24
There has been a lot going on in the sky these past few weeks. This past Saturday, 1.20, the Sun made its annual conjunction with Pluto. That's nothing unusual. The Sun meets up with each planet throughout the year. What makes this conjunction unique is they met up at 0 degrees of Aquarius. Pluto has not been in Aquarius since the late 1700s. Add that 0 degrees of any sign is a very potent initiator, and we have some serious energies coalescing to bring powerful changes on both a macro and micro level.
The Full Moon that occurs on Thursday afternoon will add its light. The Moon will be at 5 degrees of Leo, opposite the Sun at 5 degrees of Aquarius. Leo deals with an individual's power. To be sustained and used properly, it must be anchored to authenticity and self- acceptance. Aquarius focuses on the power of groups when empowered beings come together to create a common vision and work towards it. Aquarius is the fixed air sign - an out of the box visionary. Leo is the fixed fire sign - an inspiring leader. The Aquarius - Leo axis is about balancing these two aspects of each of us to self actualize and contribute to creating a world that benefits humanity.
Under a Full Moon, emotions come to the surface. We are made aware of reactive patterns that undermine our ideas about who we are and what we are here to do. Full Moons are opportunities for clarity and honesty with ourselves. Under the bright light of the Full Moon, we become aware. Unconscious patterns move out of the shadows. We can make the decision to change, adjust, explore alternatives. Consider what you started in mid-August under the Leo New Moon. It is reaching a turning point now.
The Sun remains close enough to Pluto to be conjunct. Pluto is still at 0 degrees of Aquarius, while the faster moving Sun has reached 5 degrees. The exact conjunction was a big deal as was noted in the previous post and we are all affected on some level. What came up for you? Where Pluto is involved, themes of security and control are at the forefront. Can you count on yourself? Do you trust you have the abilities and support you need to reach your goals? Do you feel the need to try to control situations or relationships to ease your anxiety? Pluto's conjunction to the Sun (and opposition to the Moon under this Full Moon) can add an obsessive quality to thoughts. We can easily get stuck in stories that need to be rescripted. The thing with Pluto is the stories are in your voice; they are so familiar you might not realize what is happening in the moment. It can be subtle and insidious. Remember, things come to light under a Full Moon. It's an opportunity to recognize the story and see how you are contributing to your discomfort. Something needs to be released in order for the next phase to begin.
Consider how you use your power. Do you honor it? Are you afraid of it? Are you guided by your ethical and moral code? Do your actions reflect your values? How can you apply your unique talents to make a contribution to humanity? Aquarius does not play by the accepted rules. For Aquarius, a rule that is unfair or does not serve the greater good needs to be changed. If there is resistance to reform, Aquarius will foment a revolution. The lower expression of Aquarius is the rebel without a cause, demolishing without a clear purpose or higher vision of what it wants to build. That expression is about destruction not creation.
The higher expression of Aquarius knows the power of community to create a new world in which all are allowed to contribute their unique talents and all are uplifted. It embraces innovation and challenges the status quo. Aquarius is a circle and expects each of us to step up and take our place. The era we are leaving, Capricorn, is a pyramid. It is built on a hierarchical, top-down paradigm. Those at the top are separate from those at the base. Aquarius knows the circle is is more stable. Everyone benefits when each takes their place in the circle with the freedom to connect and work together for a better world.
Jupiter at 6 degrees of Taurus is forming a T-square to the Sun/Pluto and Moon. T-squares are challenging and dynamic aspects marked by frustration and tension as the planets involved have different priorities. Jupiter brings more. It is the planet of growth. Sometimes it is good, like when the garden grows. Sometimes not so much, like when the tumor grows.
Jupiter is challenging the consciousness (Sun) and emotions (Moon) to take concrete steps to use your resources to build (Taurus) an environment in which to operate. It's a great time to do an inventory of all your resources - physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Bring them out into the open. Acknowledge them. Use them to move out of your comfort zone and expand what you think is possible for you. It is time to show up for yourself and use the plan you created under the Capricorn New Moon of 1.11.24. Don't worry if you didn't get around to it. Start now. What can you do to move forward? What is your vision for yourself? What are you here to contribute? Where do your talents, passions and interests intersect with the world needs at this moment? How can you show up and foster an important change? What groups do you belong to and are they still nurturing you in ways that matter now? Essentially, where are you going and who is coming with you? Focus there, and let the rest go.
We are heading into the period of the year when all the planets are in direct motion. That will commence on 1.27 when Uranus turns direct. All the planets will remain in direct motion - that is, no retrogrades - until April 1. This is a wave of forward momentum and it will be palpable. This is the time to catch the wave and use it to create your desired life.
Pluto conjunct the Sun and the T-square will make this Full Moon a huge opportunity to recommit to yourself and the life you want. Stop focusing on others. It is a waste of energy to try to making someone do something or be something you want them to do or be. This is not about the other person at all. This Full Moon is shining on you and inviting you to stand in your authentic power and share it with the rest of the world.
