New Moon in Cancer ⋆ 7.5.24

The New Moon on Friday evening has the Sun and Moon meeting up at 14 degrees of Cancer.  All New Moons are opportunities to initiate changes, or at least plant the seeds for something new to take root. Cancer is the cardinal water sign. Water signs experience life through the emotions. While the water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces) are intuitive and sensitive to what is happening below the surface, Cancer in particular tends to absorb the emotions of others. Its cardinal nature can make it challenging to tease out which feelings are internally generated and which are acquired from interacting with others. That is why it is essential for Cancer energy to have a sanctuary available to allow it to settle and process anything taken on in its daily travels and interactions. 

Cancer energy is nurturing, maternal, and very dialed into creating a sense of security and safety for itself and those it cares for. The symbol of Cancer, the crab, brings its shell wherever it goes, and so is always at home. This is not the same sense of security that Taurus energy offers. That is more material, actually physical walls and such, because Taurus is an earth sign. Watery Cancer is going for the feeling of home; the feeling of acceptance and ease and peace that home represents. 

What is home for you? Who are the people who enhance your life? Who are the ones who don't deserve a place in the inner circle? What brings that sense of being cared for? How do you create it for yourself? How do you nurture your self?  It can be as simple as a good meal and a warm bath. Right now, it is important to invest in those things that replenish you and soothe your soul. 

There is not a lot of interaction among the planets during this New Moon. Venus is also in Cancer, but it is a tidbit far from the Sun and Moon to be a conjunction. Still, Venus here is influencing us to make home feel more pleasant and appealing to the senses. Adding some plants or flowers, or having a declutter session so the energy moves more smoothly are some ways to work with this energy. 

Consider what you were shown under the Capricorn Full Moon on June 21. Something came to light about balancing need to achieve and  need for rest; about what you bring to the outer world and what is needed in your inner world. You might want to revisit the post for that Full Moon.( Full Moon in Capricorn 6.21.24 )Whatever you were shown, now is the time to make the changes to prioritize you. 

Interestingly we will have a second Full Moon in Capricorn on July 21 which will bring an opportunity to tweak any changes you initiate now. 

Between now and that upcoming Full Moon, there are two additional things to keep in mind:

 1) On July 11, Venus will move into Leo and will oppose Pluto in the early  degrees of Aquarius. Be on the lookout for power plays or control issues to come up in relationships, particularly if you have planets or points in the first 2 degrees of Leo and/or Aquarius. They will show a need for balance of the need to connect with the need to feel empowered. This will not last long, but the potential for intense situations is there. 

2) In mid-July (13-17)  Mars will conjunct Uranus in Taurus. This can show up in a general way as disruptive, volatile, rebellious energy. Keep your cool, stay mindful and present in all situations. There can be some big ego energy coming up here so decide which battles are worth your energy should you find yourself in unexpected situations. This will be especially relevant for individuals with planets or points at 25-26 degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius.
