Solar Eclipse in Libra ⋆ 10.14.23
This Saturday afternoon at 1:55 (EDT) we will have a Solar Eclipse at 21 degrees of Libra. Solar Eclipses are powerful New Moons. The difference is that the influence of a New Moon lasts until the next New Moon, roughly 28 days later. The influence of eclipses lasts until the next set of eclipses, approximately six months later.
Since 2022 the eclipses have fallen along the Taurus - Scorpio axis. Themes of possessions and security have been highlighted. Now the eclipses have shifted to the Aries - Libra axis. This, in turn, shifts the focus to relationships. The first eclipse in this series was April 20. It was a Solar Eclipse at the very last degree of Aries. It brought realizations of if and how we were limiting, settling, or denying ourselves a more expansive, fulfilling life. Around then, we were offered a glimpse of possibilities that might not have ben on our radar until then.
Since then, we have had 6 months of energy shifts supporting a new vision for who we wanted to become and what type of life we wanted to create. Among them, Venus retrograde helped clarify values, beliefs, and desires for ourselves and our relationships; Mercury retrograde helped us see any patterns of communication and thoughts that we had outgrown.
Now this eclipse brings a turning point. It is time to release old patterns that are no longer aligned with who you are today and more importantly, who you are choosing to become in the future. Your life proceeds from these choices, but you already know that.
It is time to stop the old ways of interacting with important others if they are not supporting your authentic self. Libra is the cardinal air sign; it strives for balance and harmony. Neither can be had if the scales are tipped towards only focusing on one individual's needs in a relationship. There has to be equal consideration to meeting the needs of each. Consider what is out of harmony in your relationships. What needs to be cleared out to make space for a more aligned, balanced exchange? Do your relationships support you fully showing up or do you feel the need to hold back, make excuses, prioritize the other, not take up too much space? Oh, dear one, you know better. At this point you know what is not working and what needs to change. You do. And you are most likely getting the message repeated from a variety of sources. It's time to stop pretending you're not.
It can be easier to start by clearing your physical space. Libra energy needs harmony and beauty. Is there clutter around; things that don't fit your life any longer? Things that are stuffed into drawers or piled up to be addressed later? It's time. Bring some space to your space. Environment reflects consciousness. Trust yourself to manifest what you need when you need it so you don't store things "just in case, God forbid, you never know" - in other words, due to fear. As you choose to change the quality of your environment, you will be better able to explore the different points of view that allow harmony in your relationships.
This shift in perspective is being challenged by Pluto at 28 degrees of Capricorn, forming a square to the Sun and Moon. In its lower expression, Pluto equates control with power. It is coming to the final stage of its 20 year transit through Capricorn, in preparation of its move to Aquarius next year. Capricorn is about the structures you build your life on; the tried and true path, the way it has always been done. What is not working for you any longer? Again, the themes of empowerment and authentic presence are prominent. Are you attempting to control conditions? Are you playing by someone else's rules that feel increasingly restrictive, frustrating, irrational, and exhausting? What if you trusted yourself? What if you honored your wisdom? Squares require a change in approach. You need to do something different to alleviate the tension. How can you create foundations that are supportive of your ambitions for yourself and that allow you to move forward to your vision for your life? We had a Solar Eclipse at this point in October 2004 and October 1996. Themes that were prominent then will likely show up for you now and can offer clues to the area of life that is highlighted.
Look at your anger. Usually, anger informs when a boundary is being violated. Are there boundaries need to be restored? What new paths are available to support yourself without feeling like you need to go to war? For many, anger is the only way we can defend our boundaries. Libra brings the energy of the diplomat. What strategies are available so you are heard and seen and your needs honored? There is an element of destiny with this eclipse. It is preparation for stepping into your best vision for yourself. Don't settle.
