Full Moon in Aries ⋆ 9.29.23

Last week on the equinox we officially entered Libra season, the time of finding balance. This Full Moon on Friday morning will offer opportunities to continue to notice where we are out of balance and what we can shift to better equilibrate ourselves.

The Moon at 6 degrees of Aries will be opposite the Sun at 6 degrees Libra. The Aries - Libra axis is about harmonizing the needs of the individual with the needs of important others. When the Moon (emotional needs, unconscious drives, the need to be nurtured and to mother) is in Aries,  emotions can run high. We are very aware of how we feel. Aries Moon time can express emotions in demanding, dramatic, and impulsive ways. Aries does not usually approach things in a gentle manner. As the cardinal fire sign, Aries represents the soul (fire) coming to physical experience. Cardinal signs initiate. Aries energy is the baby of the zodiac. It is self-focused but doesn't really have the patience to probe the deeper aspects of emotions. Instead, it tends to react. Consider that babies don't think about why they feel uncomfortable, they just know they do and they don't like it.

On the other end of the pole, Libra is the cardinal air sign.  Libra's airy, mental energy is more comfortable thinking about emotions. If Aries is "me", Libra is "me and you"; how can everyone win, or at least feel like they haven't lost?

Have you noticed that you show up differently in different relationships? Your energy and that of your important others interact in different ways. The energy of the relationship reflects that unique combination. The thing is, you get to decide how you want to show up. When you choose a different perspective, choosing to come from a more empowered or conscious place, you approach people differently and the relationship shifts. A key insight for Libra season is all relationships mirror the energy interactions of those involved in the relationship. Partners reflect what you are bringing energetically to the table.

Astrology is an energy system. Planets are specific types of energy and signs they are in give the range, higher and lower, for how that energy is expressed. But, always, we are each at choice as to the quality of the energy we decide to demonstrate. Libra season, and especially the Aries Full Moon that happens each year during Libra season, brings us face to face with our relationship patterns. How do you express your needs in relationships? Do you know what your needs are?  How comfortable are you expressing them directly? Do you take responsibility or do you default to blame? When the Moon is in Aries, as it is for a few days each month, unacknowledged emotions come out of the shadows. We can either welcome them or deny them. If  we do the latter, for whatever reason (discomfort, worthiness issues, poor boundaries, anxiety, etc.) they shrink back from whence they came until the next cycle. When the Sun is shining its light on them as it does during the Aries Full Moon, these emotions come into conscious awareness. They are harder to deny.

This is the chance to explore partnership from the perspective of balance and harmony rather than as a win-lose paradigm. How can you hold your authenticity, independence, and honesty (Aries traits) while allowing interdependence, graciousness and teamwork (Libra traits) to grow in your relationships? This is the theme of the Aries Full Moon.

Interestingly, Aries ruler, Mars (ego drive/how you get your needs met/yang energy) is traveling in Libra right now, amplifying those independent - interdependent vibes. It is also making a supportive aspect to Venus (how you relate to important others/what you are attracted to/your values/yin energy) in Leo, so there are opportunities to make some changes if you slow down a bit and prioritize creating harmony in relationships.

That said, Venus has been in a challenging aspect (square) to Uranus in Taurus since July which will continue until mid-October. What were you shown during the Venus retrograde period of July - August about your resistances to making changes? How do you continue to undermine your freedom, disempower yourself, and close the door on possibilities that are calling to you? What keeps tickling your knowing? Can you move into curiosity and explore a few "what if's?"

Peaking ahead, the New Moon in Libra on October 14 is a South Node Eclipse. What that means is it's time to let old patterns die and step into new ways of relating to others. This Full Moon is the prelude to the Eclipse. Pay attention to what you are being show about how you handle relationships. Allow yourself to be guided. Have courage (another Aries trait).

"Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won't either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart.” ~Louise Erdrich
