Uranus into Gemini 2025 - 2032
When Uranus moved into Gemini on July 7, it was the last of the outer planets to shift to a new sign. In November, Pluto had entered Aquarius after spending nearly 20 years in Capricorn. Neptune had moved out of Pisces, entering Aries the end of March. Now Uranus is leaving Taurus, where it has been since 2018. It's important to note that never in recorded history have all three outer planets shifted signs in so short a time period. Even more interesting is that both Saturn and Jupiter moved into new signs recently as well. Saturn joined Neptune in Aries in May and Jupiter moved into Cancer in early June. Jupiter and Saturn are not outer planets, nor are they fast moving personal planets. They fall in between and act as bridges for the energy of the outer planets and human life. The slow moving outer planets primarily exert their influence on the world stage through influencing the collective. Jupiter and Saturn connect these larger energies to the social groups we belong to (Jupiter) and how we ground and grow (Saturn) in these influences. The energy of change that is happening right now is undeniable.
Where We Have Been - Uranus in Taurus
Planets are different types of energy. The sign a planet is in gives the template or focus for how that planet's energy is expressed. Uranus is the energy of innovation, breaking free of restrictions, moving beyond known limits in a quest for individual and collective freedom. Uranus energy is independent, innovative and revolutionary. It's a disrupter. Maintaining the status quo is not an option when Uranus is around. It brings revolution to how we address the themes of the sign it is moving through. Taurus cares about finances, resources, and values. On a macro level, Uranus has overseen increased interface of technology and finances, (e.g., the rise of cryptocurrency), and how we earn, (e.g., the rise of remote work and telecommuting).
It has also precipitated a revision of values. What are we using and trading our resources for? Is the cost worth the benefits? Remember, Uranus is concerned with authenticity and freedom from limits. In Taurus, it has prompted reevaluation of what constitutes a resource, as well as how we develop and use them. How do we create security for ourselves in a world that increasingly uses the intangible? Earthy Taurus is deeply aware of the environment. How we as a collective view and value natural resources has been undergoing Uranus revisions, for good or for ill. That's the thing with planetary energies - they are essentially neutral. That they express is a given. How they express is up to us to decide. Outer planets' expressions mirror the prevailing energies of the external world.
Since 2018, how have you changed the way you viewed and used your personal resources? In what way have your values altered? Put another way, what matters to you now compared to seven years ago? Have you been able to redefine what you structure your life around by letting go of your allegiance to old paradigms and perspectives? What are you building for yourself?
The outer planets were in earth and water signs before the recent shifts. Pluto in Capricorn (earth) was supporting Uranus in Taurus (also earth). Practical, traditional and deliberate were the way these two expressed their energy. Neptune in watery Pisces added empathy and emotion to the mix, with the potential for illusion, deception and victimhood as subthemes. Sometimes water and earth make a fertile garden, sometimes sticky mud.
Where We Are Heading - Uranus in Gemini
Now, the elements are air (Aquarius and Gemini) and fire (Aries); intellect and logic (air) blending with passion and idealism (fire). Uranus in Gemini is changing how we connect with others and express ourselves. It demands we look at the way we communicate our deepest truths and challenges us to be authentic. Uranus has no desire to hold back in order to be acceptable to others. In fact, it quite likes to be shocking. Neptune and Saturn in Aries are demanding we honor our individual purpose. Pluto in Aquarius expects us to bring our unique gifts to create better systems than the ones that are currently being dismantled. Individual empowerment in service to the community is the overarching theme now.
Gemini's currency is information. Uranus will bring new sources and new ways to use information. Gemini energy often takes information at face value and doesn't fact check. It will be up to each of us to use discernment and verify what is true. Uranus moving through Gemini can create a good deal of nervous energy. It will be helpful to have practices that cool off the nervous system and allow you to respond rather than react to unanticipated interactions. Breathwork in particular can be helpful. Pay attention to your physical responses to information you receive. A calm nervous system is an excellent detector of when something is "off". Don't ignore your "inner ding."
This transit will promote different ways of socializing. Uranus is drawn to the unconventional and eccentric. There will be opportunities to create connections with others who have very different perspectives. The point is to break free of your prejudices and anything that limits you in expressing yourself authentically. Uranus operates in unexpected ways, so prepare to be surprised. How willing are you to question what you know? Are you open to fully share your ideas or do you edit yourself? Can you clearly communicate your thoughts and articulate your understandings? Do you let your judgements and expectations color how you interact with others? Do you recognize how much they dilute you? Can you trade them for curiosity? How comfortable are you with not knowing something? Can you admit it? Are you willing to learn new things in new ways?
One Step Back Before Moving Forward
Uranus will retrograde in early September and reenter Taurus in early November. It will continue to retrograde through the last few degrees of Taurus, giving us opportunities to complete anything unfinished from its time there. Think about the Taurus themes discussed above for clues to what will be coming up for you, especially if you have planets or points at 26-29 degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius.
It will reenter Gemini the end of April 2026 and stay in Gemini until 2032. If you know your birth chart, see where Gemini is. (You can get a free birth chart at astro.com) That is the area of your life that will experience the effects of this transit. The last time Uranus moved through Gemini was 1941 - 1949, so most of us don't have a clear frame of reference for how this transit will show up for us.
And heads up - both Saturn and Neptune will retrograde out of Aries this fall, moving back to Pisces for a final time before they each reenter Aries in February 2026. Again, we are being given the opportunity to tie up loose ends and to complete anything not quite finished yet. It allows each of us to start the new cycle of growth and expression without baggage. You might not see the whole path, but that doesn't matter as much as choosing to move forward in 2026.
