Full Moon in Aquarius 8*9*25
Our annual Full Moon in Aquarius happens in the wee hours of the morning on Saturday when the Sun at 17 degrees of Leo is opposite the Moon at 17 degrees of Aquarius. The Sun and Moon are not interacting much with any of the planets under this Full Moon. However, there are many planets forming a supportive aspect which contributes easy energy to this Full Moon's expression.
Aquarius - Leo: Personal Power in Service to the Collective
The Aquarius - Leo axis deals with personal agency and leadership (Leo) and the way we use our unique abilities to contribute to our community (Aquarius). Leo energy is here to shine. It is main character energy. Aquarius invites it onto a bigger stage. For Aquarius, purpose must extend from self towards the larger community. The best use of passion is to fuel purpose beyond any individual. Aquarius knows the power of a group. A collective of self realized individuals free to share their abilities and focused towards a higher vision of creating a new world for all is the desired outcome of this axis. Honoring the self through honoring the collective.
Leo is ruled by the Sun. In astrology the Sun is your consciousness, your purpose, and how you express it in a way only you can. Leo, the fixed fire sign, encourages us to show up and be seen. It is great at receiving - love, appreciation, respect, friendship, support, joy. Leo does not question its worthiness. It accepts all the blessings bestowed upon it. And it generously shares these blessings because Leo knows there is always enough of the good stuff. Leo trusts its ability to create a joyful experience for itself and its companions. It trusts its power to attract what it wants. It is comfortable with itself and that is the source of its charisma. Do you trust yourself and your creative power? Have you tried it out lately? Do you believe in your ability to have what you want or do you think you have to wait for someone else to deem you worthy? Do you deny yourself fun? How is your work to play balance? Are they mutually exclusive in your paradigm? Why? Do you hide or limit what you show people? Do you have the capacity to celebrate life; to enjoy your successes and acknowledge the successes of others? Stunted Leo energy will often express as high maintenance and/or high drama behavior which is designed to suck all the attention in the room. It demands "look at me" with a tinge of desperation. This energy is competitive. It blusters and roars, trying to dominate, but it is a paper tiger, or here, lion.
When the emotional Moon is in fixed air Aquarius, our hearts want to understand what we are feeling. This placement allows us to be more objective; to see the bigger picture and how we can use our skills to create something new, exciting and that benefits others. Aquarius is an altruistic sign that takes an unconventional approach. Friendships are important to Aquarius and form the foundation of its relationships. While Leo energy loves to be loved and can be very romantic, Aquarius prefers to be more independent and to connect on its own terms in its own way. Under this Full Moon, what are you being shown about your friendships and relationships? Do you challenge each other to grow? Is it mutual? Do you share the same priorities? Are you having fun with those you choose to spend time with?
Grand Trines and Kites - Oh my!
This Full Moon is supported by an easy aspect. Pluto at 2 degrees of Aquarius, Uranus at 1 degree of Gemini and Mars at 1 degree of Libra are forming a Grand Trine. Trines show where energies of the planets involved are flowing easily. Here, all the planets are in air signs. Remember Air signs live in the world of thoughts and ideas. They can be detached and objective, and when in a supportive aspect, they can get overly comfortable in the realm of thinking, going round and round without actually making a decision or taking action. Trines, while easy, are not motivating. We can go back and forth here, discussing and conceptualizing but not coming to a conclusion.
The saving grace here is that Mars at 1 degree of Libra is opposite Saturn and Neptune, both at 1 degree of Aries. This turns the grand trine into a fairly rare aspect known as a kite. The kite has the ease of the trine but the opposition acts as a spine, giving it a focus. It brings inspirational fire energy (Aries is a fire sign) to the rational, logical air energy.
Mars is the planet of action. It's how we use our physical energy to get our desires met. Because it's the only personal planet involved here, we are being called to do something. Mars in Libra takes action with an eye towards how it affects important others. Here, it must balance that consideration with the need to take our individual dream seriously and show up for ourselves. I don't want to get into the astrological weeds here, but this energy is formidable and these planets are here to support our growth.
If the Planets Could Talk...
Mars in Libra says "I want to make sure my important others know I value our relationship, and I am willing to put effort into creating easier give and take."
Saturn and Neptune in Aries remind Mars "That's great, but please don't forget that your first allegiance is to yourself and your dreams. If you aren't taking them seriously, you are not bringing your full self into any relationship. You have to be grounded in yourself before you can build a solid relationship. So, it's important to invest in both your priorities as well as those of your important relationships. They must be in balance."
Saturn and Neptune have thoughts for Uranus and Pluto as well. "Uranus, we know your time in Gemini is meant to change up how everyone expresses themselves and find new ways to communicate their ideas and connect with others. For right now, we are here to offer you opportunities to include self awareness and a bit of compassion for the others we are engaging with. As much as you might want to shake things up, we want you to remember that kindness to self and others will not make the changes any less authentic."
"Pluto, we are here to offer you opportunities also. Together, we can identify when we start to blame others or feel victimized. Under this Full Moon, we have a chance to become aware that this happens when some need is not being met. That is when we can reality check each other. Realizing how and to whom we have been giving our power away, denying our abilities and not taking ourselves seriously, we can change that narrative to one of empowerment that allows us to remember our agency and get our mojo back."
Mercury goes Direct! Yay!
Mercury will be going direct on August 11. Things might seem a little stagnant over the weekend as it slows down in preparation to reverse from retrograde to forward motion, so patience is the word. The 2-3 days when it reverses direction is called 'Mercury's storm'. It is challenging as energy is not moving. Take a breath, reread this post, let yourself plan, but if you can, wait to take action until a bit further in the week. Things will be clearer then.
