Full Moon in Libra 4*12*25
Saturday evening the Moon will be full at 23 degrees of Libra opposite the Sun at 23 degrees of Aries. They will both be squaring Mars at 27 degrees of Cancer, forming a T-square. T-squares are tense aspects that require an adjustment in how we express the energies of the planets involved as they are challenging each other. With this T-square, there is a need to accept what is not working and decide to act differently, not just consider alternatives.
The Aries - Libra Continuum
The Full Moon in Libra requires we balance the emotional need for close relationships with the desire to be independent. Aries starts the zodiac and is focused on exploring the self as a separate entity from all others. Aries energy is straightforward and supremely confident in its abilities. For Aries, taking action is the preferred mode of operation, and it can be impulsive, jumping in before fully evaluating potential consequences. It is in Aries that self-awareness develops. The individual discerns preferences and priorities. Aries takes the fulfillment of its personal desires very seriously.
On the other end of the spectrum is Libra. In Libra, the self is now ready and able to share itself with another and build strong relationships that enhance the lives of each partner. If the Aries aspect is undeveloped, the partnership will be unbalanced. One partner's needs will dominate and the other will shrink themselves, eventually suffering the pain of denying themselves and dismissing their needs. The sense of self will be stunted. Connection can't occur because one stays in the shadows, not willing or able to be seen fully.
Conversely, if the Libra aspect is undeveloped, the ability to take another into account, compromise, and empathize will be missing. Those individuals don't know how to build a relationship as each interaction is seen as a battle for control. Consider your important, close relationships. How do you view your partner? How do you approach the idea of compromise and mutual benefit? Are you comfortable with the power dynamic? Do you feel able to express your needs? When you do, does your partner honor them? What are your expectations of your partner or partnership in general? Are they reasonable? Do you act like a victim, blaming others or waiting for another to rescue you from your own drama? Are you the rescuer, always stepping in to calm the storm which is usually created by the other? What are you getting out of that dynamic? Is it serving you or keeping you stuck in a supporting role in your own life?
Venus, Mars and Saturn Weigh In
Venus, Libra's ruler, has been retrograde since March 1 and will resume direct motion on Saturday around the time of the Full Moon. How you connect with important others, manage your resources, and demonstrate your values have been under review during her retrograde. As she resumes forward motion, you will have the opportunity to try different approaches to build connection with important others based on the insights gained during the retrograde.
At the time of the Full Moon, Saturn at 25 degrees of Pisces will be conjuncting Venus and trining Mars. Trines are easy, supportive aspects. The Saturn connection with the rulers of the signs involved here adds an element of maturity and seriousness. We know Full Moons bring things to light, and under this lunation, Saturn is providing gentle reinforcement to make the changes that you are aware need to be made if you want the life you say you do.
Mars, Aries' ruler, is the focal planet in the T-square formed with the Sun and Moon. This means it is challenging how the Sun and Moon express their energies in Aries and Libra, respectively. Mars has been in Cancer since early January due to its retrograde from December 6 until February 23. Mars in Cancer is asking what foundations have been put in place that support the achievement of our desires? How do we create strong roots for ourselves that nourish our wellbeing? How do we nurture and invest in true self-care rather than just self- repair? Self-care is a reflection of the regard in which we hold ourselves. It is not things we do to counteract the effects of stress, but an embodiment of our own sense of our value.
Mars in Cancer in this T-square is challenging our version of how we see ourselves and get our individual needs met (Aries) within the context of our important relationships (Libra). We can't do this effectively if our self-care practices are directed towards repairing the effects of living an unbalanced life that disregards our inherent worth. We get stuck in a cycle of abandoning ourselves by prioritizing others, whether for work or for any number of reasons. Eventually we will need to address the consequences of our self-denial.
The Goal of the Full Moon in Libra
This Full Moon is asking us to get organized and take practical steps to create a life that balances our individual needs and desires with those of our close relationships. What are your goals and ambitions? What is your vision for your best life? What are realistic things you can start to do to invest in your wellbeing on a consistent basis? Simple things like taking a deep breathe or two between texts or emails, at red lights, or before buckling or unbuckling your seat belt. Drinking water before coffee. Getting up and moving regularly; having a vegetable with lunch and dinner; sitting down to eat and turning off your phone or TV - you get the drift. Treat yourself like the star of your life. When you do things that support your wellbeing, you stop looking for validation of your worth from others. That sets the framework for true connection in relationships. You're not looking to fill a void, and you don't stay with those who are looking to have their voids filled.
On April 18, Mars finally moves out of Cancer and into Leo. Mars in Leo is here to shine and be appreciated while also acknowledging the light of others. The self-care groundwork established during its long stay in Cancer will form the foundation for a renewed sense of confidence and self-regard. It's important to recognize this is not arrogance, which is another attempt to fill the void you created by not honoring your needs in the first place. Rather, this energy is that of embodied awareness of your capacity to create a fulfilling and joyful life and share the experience with chosen others. It's not too good to be true. It's destiny. You just need to chose it.
