Lunar Eclipse in Virgo 3*3*26

Tuesday morning we have a Lunar Eclipse in Virgo. This is the 5th of 7 eclipses along the Pisces-Virgo axis. Eclipses are powerful New Moons and Full Moons. Unlike regular lunations, the effects of eclipses are thought to last for about 6 months, until the next set of eclipses. The current set, comprised of the Solar Eclipse we had on February 17, and this one, will exert influence until August, when the second set of eclipses for 2026 happen.

This is a Full Moon (Lunar) Eclipse, with the Moon at 13 degrees of Virgo opposite the Sun at 13 degrees of Pisces. The Virgo - Pisces axis deals with service. Virgo is the mutable earth sign. Earth signs are practical and focused the material world. Virgo is analytical and detail oriented. It is very good at seeing where things can be made better. Virgo energy identifies inefficiencies and creates improved workflows that free up resources. Problems happen when Virgo's eye for detail becomes fixated on finding every imperfection, no matter how small. Virgo's shadow expression shifts from being of service to being the critic, pointing out what is wrong with every little thing. It loses sight of the bigger picture in a futile quest for perfection. Virgo energy deals with the daily tasks of life, how you manage your responsibilities and take care of things that depend on you, like your pets, your health and your physical body.

Pisces is the mutable water sign. It experiences life through feelings, like all water signs. Pisces is symbolized by two fish swimming in opposite directions but linked in the middle so neither actually goes anywhere. This is not futility, but a recognition of how, in ultimate reality, we are all part of one big tapestry. Pisces realizes there is no "other" - it's all right here and right now. Pisces can go back and forth between the spiritual world and the material world. In fact, Pisces will often try to escape into the more comfortable spiritual realm when life on earth gets too gritty. It is comfortable in the spiritual realm, connected to the soul and our inherent divinity. Mutable signs are dialed into the collective. Pisces taps into the emotions  "out there" in the zeitgeist. This Lunar Eclipse can make all of us more sensitive to prevailing emotional climate.

The axis asks us to integrate our compassion, empathy, and spirituality into the practical realities of our daily lives as humans. It challenges us to embody our divinity, to honor our light and to live in partnership with our souls - that part of us that knows we are connected to something much bigger than what we experience in our day to day existence. Under this Lunar Eclipse, the need to balance care of the body and the soul is highlighted.

How well do you balance the care of your physical body with the care of your spirit?  Virgo deals with health because one of the responsibilities of daily life is taking care of your body. How well do your daily routines honor your physical needs? How do you approach these needs - as necessary inconveniences or opportunities to show yourself kindness and appreciation?  Are you comfortable in your body? Do you retreat into your mind most of the time? Does your body need to demand attention with pain or other discomforts?

This is a South Node eclipse which carries the theme of endings. South Node eclipses indicate where a pattern of behavior or a perspective has taken you as far as you can go. It has become a reactive default setting. Because this is a Full Moon Eclipse. things will come to light, meaning, come into your awareness. Currently the South Node is in Virgo. That means the "default setting" you have outgrown deals with Virgo themes of perfectionism, tying worth to performance, or attempting to control your environment through extreme organization and micromanagment. How comfortable are you with stillness?  Do you feel the need to be constantly busy? Do you have a spiritual practice that anchors you? Can you spend time tending to your creative outlets without apology? How loud is your critical voice? How much influence have you allowed it to have? When you catch yourself in this pattern can you "try a little tenderness", offering grace to yourself instead?

If you know your chart, look to see what houses 13 degrees of Pisces and Virgo are in. These are the areas of life that will be most affected by this eclipse. If you can, think back to March 2007, when there was another eclipse involving the same degrees. This time can offer some insight into the themes that might show up for you now.

The Sun and Moon are in easy aspect to Jupiter at 15 degrees of Cancer under this eclipse. This is a lovely, supportive energy although it can bring a lot of emotions to the surface. If so, don't dismiss them or shuttle them off to be addressed at a later time. Don't distract yourself with tasks. Spend some time with what arises. Trust your intuition. If it's showing up, it is asking to be acknowledged. There might not be a need for anything more than that. Pisces is about acceptance. Once a feeling is acknowledged and accepted, it can flow through you. Feelings only get stuck when you resist them by burying them under layers of denial and distraction.

There is a strong Pisces emphasis in the heavens right now. Mars, Venus and Mercury (still retrograde until March 20) are keeping the Sun company in the sign. Pisces qualities of sensitivity, intuition, and empathy are highlighted during the first part of March. This will change as we move into April, when we will have an unprecedented 6 planets in Aries at the New Moon on April 17. In addition, there will be no planets retrograde at that time, so there will be a lot of forward momentum in a few weeks. This is the opportunity to clarify how you want to direct that future energy when comes knocking.

During a Lunar Eclipse, the Sun, Earth and Moon are all lined up. Things that are out of alignment become easier to discern under the light of the Lunar Eclipse. They have reached a natural end, a turning point in the cycle. Let them go. You are making space for new growth, new potentials, a whole new expression of yourself.
