New Moon in Pisces ⋆ 3.10.24

In astrology, the new year starts when the Sun enters Aries at the Spring Equinox. The New Moon in Pisces on Sunday is therefore the final New Moon of this astrological year. It carries a sense of completion and is meant to be an opportunity for integrating the insights from the experiences of the past 12 months. It allows us to tie up any loose ends and prepare for the next cycle.

This New Moon has the Sun and Moon at 20 degrees of Pisces. Pisces is the mutable water sign. It experiences life through the emotions. As a mutable sign, it is dialed into the emotional currents that are flowing in the collective. Under Pisces we are all a bit more sensitive to the feelings in the world around us. It is important to be aware of what you might be absorbing when you go out into the world during this time. Strong boundaries are needed to avoid being swept away by the prevailing currents. Notice how you feel when you have been in busy or crowded areas. Give yourself a pause so you can recognize if all you are feeling belongs to you. While empathy and compassion are strengths of Pisces energy, they can become overwhelming if they catch you unaware.

Pisces energy understands that there is more to life than the daily grind; that we are all part of something much bigger and indefinably beautiful. Pisces is a gentle energy, artistic and creative.  If it becomes overwhelmed by the suffering it witnesses, it often chooses to escape into an imagined utopia. Out of balance Pisces energy can use drugs, alcohol or other substances to numb out. It can slide into a victim expression, waiting to be rescued. It will avoid facing reality. Alternatively, misguided Pisces energy can express as a martyr, where it tries to alleviate the pain of others  by over empathizing or leaning into codependency.

A balanced Pisces expression can tap into higher awareness and receive creative solutions to problems. It can use its inherent ability to connect to the wisdom of the collective and the inspiration contained there. Aquarius deals with innovation in groups. Pisces expands this beyond the connection to humanity as a whole and taps into connection to the divine, the creative organizing intelligence of the universe.

Under this Pisces New Moon, consider where you might be disempowering yourself by playing the victim or martyr. Are you waiting for someone to rescue you? Do you make others' happiness  a prerequisite to yours? Pay attention to your story and the words you use.

Do you build in adequate time to pull back from the demands of the external and plumb your inner world? Pisces is an intuitive sign. Do you attend to the whispers of your intuition or do you dismiss them? Do you allow yourself creative outlets to play without needing an outcome or criticizing the end result? Do you let yourself daydream? Pisces season is for exploring your creative capacity to envision possibilities and allowing yourself to receive messages from the parts of yourself you might not tap into in the course of daily life.

It is also the time to reflect on the past 12 months. What have you realized about yourself? You are not the same person you were this time last year. What has changed for you? What are your hopes for this next 12 months? Pisces asks  us to explore the limits we accept. Which are legitimate boundaries that serve as containers for your sacred space and which are restrictions that are constricting you? Take some time to decide what you want to take with you into the next phase of your life, and what can be released.  The next set of lunations are eclipses, so will bring powerful energies to make changes. This is the time to consider what you want those changes to be.

“In the universe, there are things that are known, and things that are unknown, and in between them, there are doors.” ~William Blake
