Solar Eclipse in Aries 3*29*25
Saturday morning's Solar Eclipse in Aries is the 6th and final eclipse along the Aries-Libra axis that began in April, 2023. This axis deals with self (Aries) and how that self interact with others in close relationships (Libra). These eclipses have brought opportunities to explore our individuality and how we expressed it. We also had the chance to delve into how we share ourselves with important others and what our close relationships mirror to us about ourselves.
"Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end"
This year has a theme of endings and beginnings. Numerologically, 2025 is a 9 year, signifying completions. Nine years are time to finish up existing projects and prepare for the start of the next cycle. Astrologically, all the outer planets are shifting or have just shifted signs. The outer planets, Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus, move very slowly. It's very uncommon that all of them change signs within a year. It signifies powerful transition in how their energies are expressed. Because they move slowly, many people have them in the same sign. They express as generational themes, evident in the collective more so than individuals unless they connect with an individual's personal planets. That said, we are all feeling their influence to greater or lesser extents.
Pluto moved into Aquarius on November 19. It is energizing an new way of expressing power, away from the top-down model and towards more collaboration and community. It's just getting started, as it will remain in Aquarius through 2042. This was covered in a previous post here.
The day after this Solar Eclipse in Aries, Neptune will move into Aries for the first time in 165 years. There will be a separate post on that. Briefly, Neptune moving out of Pisces and into Aries will challenge each of us to demonstrate our spirituality and compassion in ways that are unique to each of us.
Uranus will move into Gemini in July. It will bring changes to how we socialize and connect with others. It will also likely affect technology around how we communicate as well.
Self-revision and self-definition
Solar eclipses are powerful New Moons. They signify a time of new beginnings, ripe for setting intentions and making decisions about the next part of the cycle. This eclipse has the Sun and Moon at 9 degrees of Aries (there's that number again) - a new beginning encased in an ending. The only other planet in Aries is Mercury, which will retrograde back into Pisces within hours after the eclipse. Essentially, the Sun and Moon are the only planets bringing fire sign energy to this time. Aries is the initiator. It is the first sign of the zodiac, the most personal of all the fire signs. Aries arrives on the scene with a big "I'm here!" The question is, who is the "I"? The beauty of Aries is it is a beginning, and opportunity to redefine and invest in the self you want to be.
Mercury, how you communicate and process information, has been retrograde in Aries since March 15, when it started its retrograde at 9 degrees of Aries. What have you been shown about yourself and how you express your authentic presence since Mercury went retrograde? During this time of review and reevaluation, what needs revising? Consider any behaviors, patterns of thought, or relationships that no longer reflect your authentic self. Are your words honest; do you honor yourself or criticize and judge? Do you demonstrate care or condemnation towards yourself? Do you get lost in busyness as a distraction from sitting with uncomfortable feelings? Have you prioritized these distractions? Do a simple audit of how you spend your time if you are not sure. What are you investing in?
Aries has a pioneering spirit, is motivated by high ideals, and above all is brave. Aries optimism and confidence override many of the fears that would otherwise hold us back. Aries has faith in itself and in the world. It is absolutely sure that things will work out, that there is no challenge that is insurmountable. Under this Solar Eclipse, consider what changes you have been hesitant to make. Can you invest a little optimism and faith in yourself and your goals? While Aries energy can be rash and impulsive, you can take smaller, more considered steps towards your desired life. The important part is that you start. Notice when you get things right. Pay attention to when things work out well for you, even if it seems random. Celebrate the green lights, the great parking spots, the person who holds the door for you. When you acknowledge the wins, regardless of how small they are, it paves the way to seeing yourself as the competent, successful being you are. You stop waiting for conditions to be "right". You embrace the possibility of more successes. Your attention focuses on the windshield instead of the rearview and you move forward.
None of these shifts will happen overnight. These are big energies and their influence can take quite a while to be fully integrated. This is more like a gradual awakening of awareness punctuated by sudden realizations of old patterns that you are ready to rewrite. Allow yourself the time and space to shift gently, to grow into the next best version of yourself. You can do so with kindness and grace towards yourself. In fact, that's the preferred way. Same growth, less pain.
