Solar Eclipse in Libra 10*2*24
Wednesday's Solar Eclipse in Libra is the 5th and penultimate one along the Aries - Libra Axis. This eclipse series started in Spring 2023 and will conclude with the Solar Eclipse in Aries on March 29, 2025. The Aries - Libra axis addresses self/individual (Aries) and how that self shows up in relationships with others (Libra).
This eclipse finds the Sun and Moon at 10 degrees of Libra. Libra is the cardinal air sign. It experiences life through the mental realms. Libra is diplomatic, gracious, and charming. Putting people at ease is one of Libra's superpowers.
Libra energy is concerned with fairness and balance. Its symbol is the scales, the only nonliving symbol in the zodiac. It emphasizes Libra's airy quality of objectivity. For Libra, one can only know oneself through relationships. That is the function of relationships - partners provide a reflection of the other to that other. And that is why it is important that each person in the relationship has equal standing.
The theme here is how you balance your needs with those of the ones you are in relationship with. Are you at ease in your relationships? Do you show up authentically? What do your relationships reveal to you about you? Libra addresses all types of close relationships, not just romantic ones. This includes business connections, close friends, and those you go to for advice. It also includes those who challenge you, oppose you, and frustrate you. If we allow it, these last can be the most instructive because they show us our shadows, those parts of ourselves that make us uncomfortable to the point that we deny them. Often we experience them by projecting them onto others. Are you willing to explore your shadow aspects? Hint -anyone who elicits a very strong reaction from you is likely showing you one of your shadows.
This is a South Node eclipse, meaning it is time to let go of old patterns of relating that, while comfortable, are not creating the outcomes you desire now. South Node eclipses are clear that it's time to release what is not working; it's time to step out of your comfort zone in favor of a more authentic expression. Understand that this means something needs to end so you can embody a new version of yourself. How you can honor both yourself and your important others in ways that are affirming to the relationship and each person?
Mercury at 11 degrees of Libra is conjunct the Sun/Moon. It brings the potential to express yourself gently and tactfully. On the other hand, Mercury in Libra can result in overthinking and second guessing the best way to communicate. Be careful of getting so caught up in "saying it the right way" that you miss the opportunity to have important conversations.
This eclipse comes with a grand trine in water signs, as Venus at 12 degrees of Scorpio trines Saturn at 14 degrees of Pisces and Mars at 15 degrees of Cancer. Trines are easy aspects. With trines, things flow better, like when the parking space right in front of your destination opens up just as you approach. Because this is a water grand trine, your emotions are supporting you.
Venus in Scorpio desires to connect deeply and intimately with important others; nothing superficial for this placement. Mars in Cancer makes effort to create a sense of safety that is so important for intimacy. Saturn in Pisces brings a reality check to any illusions about yourself or your situation you might be entertaining. It asks you to show up as your most mature self.
You can trust your intuition under this eclipse. What do you need to feel safe in your relationships? How do you contribute to the creation of safety and acceptance for your important others? Can you foster connection and also invest in your priorities? Are you able to stay connected to yourself while in the presence of your important other? What judgements do you hold about relationships and your important others? On what are those judgements based? Are they true? Are you assuming instead of asking? What resistances do you have that sabotage honesty and connection in your important relationships? Can you be open to different perspectives? Are you able to validate another's perceived experience even if it is different from yours?
These are not easy questions. They require the courage to be honest with yourself about both your needs and the way you get them met in your relationships.
Balance in relationships is not a static state. It is a dynamic flow. In order to achieve it, we each need to be aware of the effects of the external and internal influences that are constantly in play have on ourselves and our important others.
The energies of transformation continue to run strong right now. There is tremendous support to make needed changes to our lives; to break out of ruts; to pursue meaningful goals; to deepen our connections to others; to create fulfilling lives. The only requirement is to choose and to start.
