Lunar Eclipse in Pisces 9*7*25
Here we go! The second eclipse season of the year starts peeks on Sunday with the Lunar Eclipse in Pisces. Lunar Eclipses are powerful Full Moons, the effects of which last for about 6 months, until the next set of eclipses. The Sun has been moving through Virgo and will be at 15 degrees opposite the Moon at 15 degrees of Pisces at the time of this eclipse on Sunday afternoon.
The Virgo - Pisces Axis: Service, Responsibility, and Trust
The Virgo-Pisces axis is about service and balancing the desire to organize and improve how we meet the demands of daily life (Virgo) with the equally strong desire to explore how to express the qualities of the soul in human form (Pisces). Virgo-Pisces demands we balance the health of the body and the spirit.
Earthy Virgo is analytical and excellent at seeing where systems can be improved. Virgo is motivated by the desire to make things better and takes its responsibilities seriously. But Virgo energy can become so enmeshed in the details it can lose sight of the big picture. Everything little thing is viewed as critically important and Virgo obsesses over making sure the process runs exactly as it should. Nothing is left to chance on Virgo's watch. No potential glitch is left unaddressed. Of course this results in overwhelm and anxiety. Out of balance Virgo energy can exhaust itself in the quest for perfection, refusing to take a break. This expression of Virgo becomes dry, hard and barren - unbalanced earth.
That is where Pisces energy comes in. Mutable water sign Pisces lives in the big picture, tapping into the emotions of the collective. As the last sign of the zodiac, Pisces has seen it all and has a deep wellspring of wisdom to draw from. Pisces knows there is more going on than what is on the surface. Pisces is not afraid to explore the depths of the deep ocean of life. In fact, these places of mystery and magic can be used as an escape if Pisces does not tend its boundaries well. Its watery nature is prone to becoming overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of feelings it has access to. That can fuel Pisces’ desire to escape by numbing out or zoning out. Unbalanced Pisces energy is ungrounded. It attempts to serve by suffering in the hopes that its pain will somehow ease the pain of others that it is so aware of. When this doesn't work, Pisces will assume the victim/martyr role. Its misguided willingness to sacrifice itself in order to improve another's circumstance is motivated by ungrounded compassion that is unsustainable. It needs some of Virgo's earthy practicality to recognize the futility in this strategy.
What is called for here is a balance of service (Virgo) that is motivated by compassion for both self and others (Pisces) and a recognition by both signs of what is theirs to do, while simultaneously trusting in the abilities of others to handle their parts.
Where do you assume responsibility for other's behaviors/outcomes/happiness? Why are you so sure that you are the only one who can manage the current conditions? What past circumstances created the belief within you that this was the way to validation/appreciation/safety? Can you recognize, then move beyond, their influence on your present experience?
What are you seeding?
This is a North Node eclipse, meaning the focus is on seeding new patterns. In order to do that, we first need to accept that the way we have been approaching our daily routines needs to be revamped. Outgrown behaviors and patterns that are not working will come to light. Full Moons always bring things from the subconscious into consciousness. You are being called on to surrender to that awareness and trust that once you do, new, better and more authentic ways of living your purpose will show up. It won't be immediate. The Solar Eclipse on September 21 is more about completion than initiation, despite being a New Moon. Still, the September eclipses are meant to act as pivot points, when we realize that some aspect of our lives needs to be over so we can move forward to the next phase. Think back to September 2006 and September 1998 for clues as to how these eclipses will show up for you. We had eclipses falling on the same points then, so the same themes are likely to present. Anyone with planets or points at 15 degrees of mutable signs (Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, or Sagittarius) will especially feel this eclipse.
True Self-Care is Creative
Jupiter, planet of expansion, is making easy aspects to the Sun (sextile) and Moon (trine). Jupiter in Cancer is telling us to focus on our foundation and invest in strengthening how we take care of ourselves so we are not leaking our energy trying to get others to make us feel cared for. Self-care is an internal care delivery system. It's an investment in yourself and the quality of your life. It is meant to create conditions that support your wellbeing, not "fix" the damage done by external conditions that compromise it. What do you want? How do you want to feel? What practices elicit that state of being? Do more of them. Watch what happens to your to do list when you prioritize things that nourish you rather than getting all the tasks done.
The Autumn To Do List
Any unfinished business from April - May will be reappearing to be completed between now and February 2026. We are asked to be realistic about what we want, but also not settle for less than our true desires. In other words, commit to the highest vision you have for your life. That clarity of purpose will open doors and reveal paths not previously apparent. Choose the "what". Don't worry about the "how" just yet. It may sound irritatingly "woo woo" but truly, there is a "time to every purpose under heaven" and it ain't necessarily on your schedule. Make peace with that.
"Surrender is the path to freedom through our unique authenticity, where we experience the flow of life not through the narrow lens of the mind, but through the vast refuge of the heart." ~ Bryant McGill
