Full Moon in Aries 10*6*25

Very late Monday night we have a Full Moon in Aries. This is the first lunation in two years along the Aries - Libra axis that is not an eclipse. The astrology here feels less intense compared to previous months. It feels like a much needed breather.

Full Moons happen when the Sun and Moon are directly opposite each other so the light of the Sun is illuminating the Moon. Monday night this occurs when the Sun is at 14 degrees of Libra and the Moon is at 14 degrees of Aries. In astrology, signs opposite each other are complementary, not antagonistic. All oppositions are a call to balance the complementary energies of the signs highlighted so they are in the sustainable sweet spot where the best qualities of both are expressed. It is a supportive relationship, not a competitive one. Like anything coming into balance, there can be some over correction to each side as equilibrium is reached.

During its move through Libra, the Sun's focus is on important others we are in relationship with. Interestingly, Libra's symbol, the scales, is the only nonliving symbol in the zodiac. This speaks to Libra's air sign objectivity, which seeks to be as fair as possible. Libra's energy is relational. It wants to understand the concerns of each component in the relationship. Libra is committed to cooperation with important others in its life. That is why it has the reputation of being gracious and diplomatic. Why nitpick over minor issues? (That's more Virgo's perfectionism expressing.) Why create controversy unnecessarily? (That's more Scorpio's dramatic flair.) "We are here to maintain a relationship - whether personal, professional, or geopolitical" says Libra, "so we need to find common ground and work together." Libra is a cardinal sign. Cardinal signs take action towards their goals. For Libra, this means taking action to improve relationships.

Libra prioritizes harmony and beauty. It actively creates these qualities in its life. Clutter, disorganization, sloppiness, or general lack of attention to basic hygiene are hard stops for Libra energy. The external reflects the internal, so if your space is not tranquil and attractive, Libra energy will find it challenging to spend time there. This is a great time to clean out your closets and make up case, or to dispose of any old tchotchkes that are collecting dust. Consider one of Feng Shui's guiding principles - everything in your environment should be beautiful or useful. Otherwise, release it so you have space for what does enhance your quality of life.

Libra season is the time to explore your perspective on relationships in general and to evaluate your close relationships/partnerships in particular. For Libra, the relationship is a third entity, comprised of, but separate from, the people involved. The relationship has needs apart from those of the individuals in that relationship. What expectations do you have of your relationships? What role(s) do they fulfill for you? Of course, each will have a different quality, but are there commonalities?  Is there a template or vision you have of what your relationships ought to look like? What expectations do you hold for your partners and important others? How do you view those you are in relationships with? Are you able to express yourself freely, or do conversations turn into debates or attempts to convince the other of something? Are you sharing perspectives or attempting to "win"? Is there scorekeeping involved? Are you able to cooperate without abandoning yourself?

The Moon in Aries is supporting the Libra Sun by bringing our emotional needs to the surface of our awareness. Not our partner's needs, not the relationship's needs, but our personal needs. Aries energy, cardinal fire, is concerned with the self. It is the start of the zodiac, and that initiation point always focuses on the individual. What matters to you? What are your priorities? Do you take action to get your needs met? Do you take yourself seriously? Can you articulate your opinions and beliefs? Are you quoting sound bites or your soul?

Aries' independence dials down Libra's tendency for codependence. Libra's social grace tempers Aries' self-absorption. Together, they navigate connection without self denial. They find the sweet spot where each is valued and honored for their unique identity as well as for what they contribute to the relationship. The energies of each support the other.

Full Moons bring things to light, so notice what is coming up for you regarding your important relationships. What is being mirrored to you about you by your important others?  Earlier in the day, Mercury, planet of communication, moves from Libra to Scorpio. There will be a shift in how we express ourselves. Mercury in Libra is adept at light conversation to keep social interactions, well, social. In Scorpio, Mercury doesn't do small talk. It looks for deeper connection. Mercury in Scorpio seeks intimacy. It wants to be known and wants to know its important others on a soul level. The Scorpio pattern is persistent and perceptive. In its highest expression, it is honest and vulnerable. In its lower expression, suspicious and withholding. How will you choose to use this energy?

This Mercury placement is complicated by a square (challenging aspect) to Pluto in Aquarius, one of the few planetary interactions influencing this Full Moon. Pluto is about power and control. When it challenges Mercury, communications, especially with your important others, will have the potential to be power struggles (lower expression that synchs with the lower expression of Mercury in Scorpio) where you are trying to dominate or control the conversation. Alternatively, you have the option of turning these exchanges into a potential for empowerment, (synchs to the higher expression of Mercury in Scorpio), where you risk being vulnerable and honest, knowing you are capable of handling whatever comes of it.  Pause and check in with your internal message center if you feel yourself defaulting to old patterns of defensiveness or aggression. Decide how your best self would show up in the situation. Proceed from there.

This lunation is an opportunity to regroup and address how you relate to the important people in your life. Which relationships need tending? Are there misunderstandings that need clearing? What old patterns need to be retired or overwritten? Are you willing to invest in creating a new level of connection with your partners and close relationships? This is the focus. September's eclipse season was intense. Take this chance to breathe a little easier and remember those who matter.
