Full Moon in Capricorn ⋆ 7.3.23
Monday morning at 7:38 am (EDT) we have a Full Moon in Capricorn. The Sun at 11 degrees of Cancer will be directly opposite the Moon at 11 degrees of Capricorn, illuminating it and bringing things to light. Full Moons are oppositions, and oppositions are always about finding balance. When we are dealing with the Cancer - Capricorn axis, this need for balance will involve the themes of home/security/childhood/nurturing (Cancer) and career/destiny/public image and reputation (Capricorn).
The Sun in Cancer brings light to our roots. Cancer is focused on our foundation. What makes us feel 'at home?' What do we need to be at ease in our home? How do we nurture ourselves so we are able to go out into the world and show up as our best?
Capricorn is concerned with ambition and achievement. From those roots, from that foundation, what are you building or growing for yourself? How do you want to be seen "out there?" Capricorn is the cardinal earth sign. It is practical and goal oriented. When the Moon is in Capricorn, she is not not warm and fuzzy. The Capricorn Moon expects to see results. She knows what you are capable of and will call you out when you don't show up as your best. Whining is not allowed when the Moon is in Capricorn. She knows you know better. Moon in Capricorn understands the power of taking responsibility for your actions and showing up as your highest and best expression.
Mercury, planet of communication and information processing is close to the Sun at 14 degrees Cancer, so it's likely that your thoughts will be drawn to your home. While your actual home is probably on the radar, so is what it represents. Your home is a place of safety and security, or at least it should be. If it is not, you are being given the push to shift this. Cancer energy extends the idea of home to your childhood and perhaps your mother or other caregiver. Under this Full Moon, what is coming to light about your roots and how you ground yourself? To what are you anchoring yourself? What are the stories you have accepted and perhaps allowed to influence what you bring out to the world? What are you feeding your roots? How are you feeding your roots? This is the essence of self care - nourishing your roots in healthy and sustainable ways. Are your roots choking because they need a bigger pot? Cancer season is about recognizing the need for sacred space and creating it so your roots are supported and strong. Only from that place can you extend into the world and fulfill your destiny. WOW! Seriously, Destiny?! That is not an understatement; that is what fully realized Capricorn energy is here to do. It is not just your career - it is what you came to this life to accomplish.
With Mercury conjunct the Sun, pay attention to your thoughts and how your inner voice sounds. Don't take everything you think as gospel. Perhaps it is time to consider a different script for your internal dialogue. Do you undermine your potential or shut down possibilities? Do you overexert at work and come home depleted? Then what? Is it easier to show up at work than at home? Are tasks prioritized over relationships? Is it your home environment that's draining you? What are you feeling? Cancer is the cardinal water sign, and Cancer season is a time of dialing into your emotions and pay attention to their messages. If you know where 11 degrees of Cancer and Capricorn are in your birth chart, those will be the areas that will be most affected.
Pluto here remains at 29 degrees of Capricorn, making a square to the eclipse point of April 20. This was discussed in a previous post and it will persist over the summer and through the fall. Your authentic expression is part of this energy. Who are you showing up as, and who do you want to show up as?
Finally, under this Full Moon, Venus and Mars are conjunct at 22 and 25 degrees of Leo, respectively, and are being challenged by Uranus in Taurus. This combination is neither comfortable nor easy. Venus and Mars are the yin/yang of astrology. Venus is how we relate to important others and form relationships, as well as our values and what we are attracted to. Mars is the action principle, how we express and fulfill our ego driven desires. Together in Leo, these two will focus on personal power and leadership in relationships. Do you recognize and honor your needs? Can you express your authentic power or are you afraid of it and edit yourself? Both these planets want to shine in Leo, but they can default to drama if you choose to express their energies in that fashion.
Uranus in Taurus is challenging all of us, (especially those with planets or points at 20-26 degrees of fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius) to free ourselves from restrictions related to our possessions, finances, and the things we value. Fixed signs prioritize stability. Of all the signs, they resist change the most. But, as much as stability in relationships is cherished, questions about how and if your needs are being met and your values honored are coming up to be addressed. Of greater consequence, do you and your significant others agree on what is important and how to allocate your resources? This includes all your resources - material as well as time, energy, and the like. Notice what is coming up for you. The energies of July are powerful and will be hard to ignore.
Venus will be going retrograde towards the end of July and will bring the opportunity to reassess relationships and values. There will be a separate post on this, as well as on some other big shifts occurring in July. For now, it can be helpful to think about what was initiated around the Capricorn New Moon at the end of December 2022. It will be reaching a turning point or culmination with this Full Moon.
